New Hogfish
Hog snappers are quite common in the Florida keys. This fish tastes as close to lobster as anything I've tried. The only thing about eating them is you'll want more hogfish. This 20lb male was taken off the Dry Tortugas.

Yellowtails
This piece entitled "Yellowtails" is an original Gyotaku of a two Yellowtail snappers. Large Yellowtail snappers are nicknamed Flags because their tails are larger than their heads.

An excellent catch, yellowtails can be sometimes wary and repond best when chumming. This fish I printed on Mesa paper from Thailand.

Triggerfish
The Trigger is native to warm waters. What looks to be exotic and difficult to catch really isn't. Found on reefs and ocean pilings the Trigger is very inquisitive and will follow a bait to the surface. He gets his name from pulling on his smaller dorsel fin which acts as an un-locking mechanism. Thus the name Trigger. This fish was caught by Terry Blumenfield while drifting shrimp over the reef for Mackerel.

Spanish Mackerel
Still I think this is one of the saltwater's prettiest fish. If it's action you want. This fish delivers. I had a boy from Indiana who never saltwater fished before. He would cast out and say I hope it's a mackerel. I created this painting to remind him of his great experience.
